Alternative Medicine for Genital Warts

Genital warts are a sexually transmitted disease and are caused by the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). There are approximately one hundred strains of this virus, thirty of which affect the genital area. Because a virus causes these warts they are extremely contagious.

There is no cure for genital warts but there are many treatment options available to ease the pain, itch, and general discomfort that the warts cause. Unfortunately, genital warts can be a very embarrassing condition for those that suffer from them and for this reason many people will not see their doctor for treatment. They will instead try to find alternative medicine for genital warts. There are many of these available.

Duct Tape

Duct tape will remove just about any wart that appears on the skin and this is true in the case of genital warts as well. Using duct tape works as an alternative medicine for genital warts in two different ways. The first reason duct tape works is because it seals in moisture from the skin. Duct tape is the only tape that can do this extremely effective because it’s adhesive is so strong. Once the skin has been kept super hydrated, the skin tissue will soften and once the tape is removed, the softened skin tissue will come off with it. This will pull out the root of the wart.

Duct tape also works by cutting off the outside air to the wart. The wart needs oxygen to survive and without it, the wart will simply die. Again, duct tape is the only tape that is strong enough to completely seal off the wart, ensuring that it doesn’t receive any oxygen. Using duct tape to remove genital warts will generally take about two weeks to work. The tape should be changed when needed to help it keep its strength. If you are concerned about removing the tape in such a sensitive area, simply take a bath in warm water and this will loosen the tape adhesive.

Topical Treatments

Applying a topical treatment to the area may also be an effective alternative medicine for genital warts. Goldenseal may help as this herb has been proven to have antibiotic properties and may help fight the virus that caused the warts. Tea Tree Oil is herbal oil that is usually used for aromatherapy. However, when used as a topical ointment it also has antibiotic properties and can also be used as an antibacterial ointment.

Aloe Vera has been used for centuries to help soothe skin irritations and this is no different when it comes to genital warts. Garlic oil is extremely useful for overall health and can be used to fight the infection that appears as a wart. Due to the abundance of magnesium that apples contain, using sour apple juice can be an extremely effective topical treatment for genital warts.

Garlic for Genital Warts

Garlic is a proven healer and can also help get rid of unwanted genital warts. Garlic can be taken orally to improve overall health and therefore, helping to get rid of genital warts. To take garlic orally you can eat garlic in your food, roast heads of garlic and eat the cloves, or take garlic oil.

Another way to use garlic to get rid of genital warts is to crush one clove of garlic. The crushed clove can then be rubbed directly on the wart and the wart covered in plaster or a bandage that will completely seal the wart. This process should be repeated every day with a fresh clove of garlic. This home remedy is very effective in making the wart turn into a blister, which will generally fall off within one week.
